A Meeting With a Bobcat

One day I met a Bobcat,

Yet I do not remember his name.

He came to me in a mirror,

On my eighteenth birthday.

He looked through the mirror, and said:

Why do you look at me so?

You know who I am,

But do You know You?

I think it is time,

For you to know,

The meaning of the chime,

The truth behind the show.

Where Up is Down,

Left is Right,

Pain is Joy,

Life is Death,

That is the truth to the illusion we must play.

Children run,

Housewives cook,

Men Work,

But through the order,

They cannot understand,

The true disorder ,

Brought by the Black Hand.

They go about their day,

Crying about a little fray,

Or that their friend doesn’t want to play,

But ignore the danger,

Behind the glass.

People think I am crazy,

Ignoring my words,

With eyes so hazy,

And replies absurd.

Soon they will see,

The error in their ways,

The disregard of my head,

That will cause them to need.

Now, I do not mean to mislead,

You know that I am on your side.

But I am sure you are agreed,

The problem is human pride.

So I leave you with this:

Forget your vices,

Watch your step,

Don’t fall on ice,

For one overstep,

May cost you your life.

It is getting late,

So I must abate

He said,

His image beginning to fade.

But wait, I called.

Will I ever see you again?

His grin widened,

With eyes a bit frightening,

And said,

Why maybe someday.

We will meet again,

On your next birthday,

When the world is sane,

But never forget my

gift to you,

That you must apply,

If Discord is not to ensue.
