A few years ago I participated in a team competition to build a proof-of-concept tunnel management system for the engineering firm Costain. The system was intended initially to be used in a…
So many rules to follow.
Things I must do.
Things I must not do.
Temptations to resist.
Pitfalls to avoid.
I am to be obedient,
ㅤbut it’s so easy to fall short.
To fail.
Is this all there is to life?
Is this what it means to be a Christ follower?
That I’m doomed to fail?
No!
Christ has covered my failures.
Made me perfect.
Now my goal,
ㅤmy desire,
Is to be near him.
To be with him.
To pursue him constantly.
I don’t strive to avoid mistakes.
To follow rules.
I seek,
ㅤI strive,
To approach him.
My act of obedience is not to follow rules,
ㅤbut to follow Jesus.
When faced with a decision…
A choice between moving toward,
ㅤor away from,
Him…
I choose toward.
This choice,
ㅤthis response to his love,
Aligns me with him.
I am no longer weighed down by,
ㅤburdened with,
Rules.
I simply seek Jesus.
Lord Jesus, today I seek you.
I follow you,
ㅤnot rules.
I position myself in your love,
ㅤnot in a prison of legalism.
Lord, today I live in your love.
