A Bundle of Problems

The Co-living and student housing industry is growing at a fast pace these days. This is due to the rising demand for rental and PG accommodations across several cities in India. The rising demand has been caused by the increasing migration of people from rural to urban areas. People usually migrate in search of a better career and educational opportunities. Students prefer to migrate to metropolitan cities to get admission to highly reputable universities and institutions. While young working professionals migrate to get desirable and high-paying jobs at national and international businesses. People who move-in to other cities for different reasons always need a home to get settled in. A suitable home is a basic requirement and a priority for most of the people. But finding a good home is not as easy as it may sound. Several hurdles come in between.

People face issues of high brokerage, poorly maintained properties, high rents, uncomfortable furnishings, inconvenient locations, rejections, discrimination based on caste, gender, and class, etc. No matter how much society has been modernized these issues still persist.

While the world was facing these issues, a man dared to venture into the housing industry to solve the problems of numerous people. This man is Mr. Nitin Agarwal. Having 20+ years of experience in the Telecom industry, he was doing well.

Once, he randomly rent out one of his vacant apartments to a few people who were in need. Soon after realizing its growing demand and the problems that people were facing, he dived deep into the housing industry. After analyzing it, he realized almost one-third of the urban population lives in the rental accommodations.

People were either unable to afford to buy homes or were migrants staying away from their hometowns. The demand is huge and this leads them to exploitation at the hands of brokers and property owners. The industry is estimated to be $20 billion in value but it still lacked in providing good quality services to the increasing population of home-seekers.

After working for several organizations such as Tata Indicom, Nokia, Hutch, Motorola, etc, Mr. Nitin Agarwal wanted a change. He decided to get into the entrepreneurship domain and provide accommodations to students, working professionals, and families at affordable prices. This resulted in the development of Roomsoom.

Roomsoom Technologies Pvt. Ltd. was launched on 1st August 2016 by Mr. Nitin Agarwal (founder) along with his wife Mrs. Garima Agarwal, (the co-founder).

The company is working with a high spirit and passion to provide the best services to their customers. With the help of dedicated staff in the domains of technology, marketing, finance, business development, and sales, etc, they are attempting to reach a wider audience and expand their services.

Roomsoom provides Fully-Furnished PGs/ Flats/Rooms for long and short stays. They believe in providing Home Away From Home feel to their tenants. So that they do not feel any kind of discomfort while staying away from their families and loved ones. Until now, Roomsoom has accommodated more than 40,000 people in their properties. They have helped people in finding rooms according to their desirability and suitability.

The company has caused huge trouble to the brokers who charge an enormous amount of money for helping people find a home. Brokers used to dupe people who come from different cities. They used to charge a high commission for their services and still delivered less than what is expected.

But time has changed and so do the broker’s fortune. With no brokerage charges, Roomsoom has helped thousands of tenants to get a home without any extra cost. It has also helped property owners to get their homes rented faster.
